The Effect of Prednisolne on the Blood Plasma Levels of RNA and DNA in Vena Portae and Vena hepatica

Abstract
Previously author reported that 1) the leucocytosis due¢¥ to prednisolone was to larger extent inhibited by various experimental procedures such as thoracic duct fistula, splenectomy and Eck¢¥s shunt; 2) the leucocytosis accompanied the increase ,of nucleic acid in thoracic duct fluid and in blood plasma; 3) in the splenectomized dogs.with thoracic fistula and Eck¢¥s shunt prednisolone induced less extent ¢¥leucocytosis than in the splenectomized dogs with thoracic fistula alone.
This suggests that liver might participate in the mechanism of leucocytosis. To confirm whether the liver pour out nucleic acid into the blood by injection of prednisolone or not, author intended to determine the nucleic acid levels in the blood obtained from ve- naportae and versa hepatica simultaneously, and obtained the following. results.
In the dogs treated with prednisolone the plasma level of nucleic acid of wena hepatica was slightly higher than that of vena portae.
